Swim Portion:

Swimmers will line up in a single-file line based on race number. Swimmers will be sent off one at a time, approximately every 20 seconds.  Junior racers will swim across (25-yard width) the pool in one lane, then go under the lane line divider into the next lane, and then swim back, which will complete their swim portion of the race.

Senior division racers will do a similar serpentine swim as the Juniors, but will use four lanes (25 yards in each lane) to complete their swim portion of the race.

Once racers have completed the swim portion of the race they will exit the pool and head towards the Transition Area where they will get their bike.

Swim vests and other floatation devices are permitted. There will be lifeguards in each swimming lane as well as on each side of the pool.

 Bike Portion:

Once racers have retrieved their bike, they will be required to walk their bike out of the Transition Area across the BIKE OUT timing mats. They can then mount their bikes and bike out of the parking lot towards Poyntz Avenue. Once bikers reach Poytnz Avenue they will execute the following course:

  • Turn right from Springboard Lane onto Poyntz Avenue

  • Turn right from Poyntz Avenue onto 14th Street

  • Turn right from 14th Street onto Fremont Avenue

  • Turn right from Freemont Avenue onto 11th Street

  • Turn right from 11th Street onto Poyntz Avenue

  • Turn around (U-Turn) at Just Tri It logo flag in the middle of Poyntz Avenue

  • Turn left from Poyntz Avenue onto 11th Street

  • Turn left from 11th Street onto Freemont Avenue

  • Turn left from Freemont Avenue onto 14th Street

  • Turn left from 14th Street onto Poyntz Avenue

  • Turn left from Poyntz Avenue onto Springboard Lane

  • Return to Transition Area.

Bikers must dismount their bike before they cross the BIKE IN timing mats.

Junior Racers will complete the course as described above. The course as described is the equivalent of biking around the park 2 times.

Senior Racers will complete the course as describe above but upon the completion of the course above they will execute another U-Turn around a second Just Tri It logo flag and repeat the course as described for a second time. This will be the equivalent of biking around the park 4 times.

All bikes are allowed, as long as they are in safe, working condition (and do not have a motor). Please be sure that your child’s bike is in good working order before coming to the race.

There will not be a water station along the bike course.

Run Portion:

Once racers have put their bike back in the Transition Area (in the same place it was before they started the bike portion) they will leave the Transition Area at the RUN OUT timing mats and begin the run course.  The run course will be clearly marked with signage and there will be volunteers on the course to help direct them as they complete the run course and head towards the finish line. The run course is contained completly wihtin the boundry of City Park.

There will be a water station along the run course that both Junior and Senior racers will pass multiple times.

 Timing:

The race will be timed using a chip and mat timing system.  This means each athlete will have a chip that they strap to their ankle with a velcro strap.  There will be timing mats placed at key locations of the course that will track their time for each leg of the race.

We recommend placing the timing chip on their left ankle so that it cannot get caught in the chain of their bike.
